Dear Resilient Beauty: Give Yourself Permission to Heal Too

Dear Resilient Beauty,

So much of your heart has been focused on your baby. You've prayed through long nights, celebrated every milestone, learned a new language of monitors and medical updates, and found strength you didn't know you had. Through it all, you've shown up with incredible love.

But somewhere along the way, you may have forgotten about you.

Maybe you've convinced yourself that your feelings can wait until your baby is home. Maybe you've pushed aside the fear, the disappointment, the exhaustion, or even the grief because there simply wasn't time to process it. You had to keep going.

The truth is, just because you've been strong doesn't mean you haven't been hurting.

The NICU journey affects more than your baby. It touches your heart, your mind, your body, and your spirit. It can leave behind anxiety, guilt, unanswered questions, and memories that are difficult to revisit. Those feelings don't make you weak. They make you human.

Healing doesn't mean forgetting what happened or pretending it didn't hurt. Healing means giving yourself permission to acknowledge your experience, extend yourself grace, and take one small step toward becoming whole again.

That might look like talking with someone you trust, writing down your thoughts, taking a walk, spending time in prayer, joining a support group, or simply allowing yourself to rest without feeling guilty. Healing isn't one big moment. It's often a collection of small, intentional choices that remind your heart it deserves care too.

As you continue showing up for your little one, don't forget to show up for yourself. Your baby doesn't just need a strong mother. Your baby needs a healthy one, one who knows it's okay to receive the same love, compassion, and care she so freely gives to everyone else.

Dear Resilient Beauty, if no one has told you lately, let this be your reminder.

You are allowed to heal.

You are allowed to cry.

You are allowed to ask for help.

You are allowed to rest.

And you are allowed to experience joy again.

None of those things take away from the love you have for your baby. They are part of the healing that love makes possible.

Please know that you are not walking this journey alone. We love you, we are praying for you, and we are here for you every step of the way. As you care for your little one, don't forget that you are worthy of that same care.

Your healing matters.

With love,

Resilient Beauties
